Our Mission

Mt. Vernon Elementary will provide a motivating and safe learning environment in which every child can succeed. Our school, parents, and community will unite to encourage positive self-image, citizen, and cultural awareness, thus leading our children to reach their highest potential as lifelong learners and productive, responsible citizens. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Assistant Principal's Corner

Attendance letters are sent monthly to parents of students recorded as having excessive absences & tardies. Please make sure to return a doctor's note (or parent explanation regarding illness) with your child within 3-days of any absence from school. This helps to ensure that those absences are coded as "Excused", whenever appropriate.

MVES TRAFFIC FLOW PATTERN

In order to ensure the safety of our students and to accommodate the large volume of traffic at our campus the following traffic flow pattern is in place.

1.  All traffic will enter Tiger Boulevard (this is the street that leads to the main campus).
2.  Vehicles will enter the Elementary campus using Tiger Trail on the north side of the Elementary Campus).
3.  The first (1st) AND third (3rd) lanes of Tiger Trail will be used for drop off and pick up.  Students will need to wait for assistance from duty personnel if using the third lane.
4.  The middle lane is used for traffic flow to reach other pods and is NOT a drop off lane.
5. All traffic will exit the Elementary campus using Tiger Field Road on the South side of the Elementary Campus.  This will be a ONE-WAY street during arrival and dismissal times.

6.  Cub Scout Circle, which is in front of the Elementary Campus, will be used for Day Care Buses ONLY.
7.  ALL Car Riders should be dropped off and picked up at student pods.

Please keep in mind the following additional reminders about drop off and pick up:
If you are allowing your child to exit the vehicle without assistance from duty personnel, they may exit in the FIRST LANE on the CURB SIDE ONLY.

Third and Fourth Grade students are encouraged to exit vehicles unassisted from the first lane as this helps move morning drop off traffic along more efficiently.

Please do not allow Pre-K or Kindergarten students to exit vehicles unassisted.

All parents must stay inside vehicles at all times for drop off and pick up.

All pod doors will lock at 7:45 am in order for teachers and staff members to arrive in class and to supervise their assigned students.
The tardy bell rings and class begins at 7:50 am.

No students will be loaded in a vehicle without a car tag.

****PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION while on our campus to ensure the safety of our students!****

Thank you for your patience and cooperation!
